A little Wish Bowl history....
”...art was always the one thing I loved doing and the thing I did the best.  My father was an artist, from him I got the sense that art was real and powerful, and could touch people. “

I made the very first bowl as a special 'thank-you' gift for a friend. I wanted something beautiful that could be used, and that would somehow convey my wishes for a wonderful life.

A wooden bowl would be useful, painting is what I love to do...  but how would I covey my hopes for a good life? That's when the idea for the wish spiral came. Words would represent the qualities that make life special... love, hope, peace, joy, wonder, devotion, happiness, friendship and more.

Friends were touched by the idea and soon I began receiving requests to make Wish Bowls for others. What began as a word of mouth business expanded to clients throughout the USA, Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Japan.  What a privilege- to be able to do what I love. I still make them all myself- and each is unique in itself.
The wooden bowls are made of hardwood; usually maple, butternut, birch or cherry. I look for an interesting grain and wood design, especially when making the natural finished 'bowl of wishes'.

The wish word spiral is written in a permanent ink,  the symbols are painted in acrylics. The finish I use is a wonderful, environmentally friendly, nontoxic water based urethane. This allows the bowls to be useful as well as decorative.

The Wish Bowl designs that incorporate the word spiral include the natural finish Bowl of Wishes as well as Leaf, Sky and Spiral  designs. Every year I also do limited edition wish bowls.

love painting the sky bowls. They're always different ... sometimes dark & brooding, sometimes light and airy. My leaf bowls are a constant favorite of my clients. I seek to capture the unique beauty of Vermont vibrant autumn maple leaves with a natural finish background. Spiral bowls are rich in color & elegant in design with a wish word spiral done in metallic silver.

I also do seasonal designs and a limited number of abstract and representational art bowls. These may incorporate gold & silver leaf and metallic powder.
Wish bowls make unique gifts for holidays, birthdays and celebrations.
A personalized wish bowl makes a unique and special keepsake.  I've made personalized bowls for wedding couples and bridesmaids, teachers, children's christening gifts, housewarming gifts, graduations and many other special occasions..
Special requests for personalized bowls are accepted.
